Alison Tomlin

Alison is a co-founder and head of operations at Speak Carbon Collective. She regularly delivers Carbon Literacy training to local authorities, law firms, businesses, universities and non-profit organisations. In addition to this, Alison develops organisationally bespoke Carbon Literacy courses in collaboration with organisations from a range from sectors.

Alison is the sector lead for education and law at Speak Carbon. She is working to build relationships with schools and other educational settings, and coordinating the development of materials to support delivery of CL in these settings. This work is making CL learning more accessible to both staff and students across the UK.

Andrea Wood

As a Carbon Literacy Certified Consultant and Head of Training at Positive Planet, which is a Platinum Carbon Literacy Organisation, I empower corporate organisations to embed sustainability into the heart of their operations. I lead the design and delivery of impactful, tailored training programmes that build internal capability, align teams with net-zero ambitions, and inspire meaningful climate action at every level of business.

With extensive experience delivering Carbon Literacy and sustainability training across diverse sectors, including manufacturing, construction, finance, sport, education, travel, events, and public services, I specialise in translating complex climate challenges into practical, people-first solutions that drive measurable progress.

Alongside my corporate work, I bring a strong educational foundation as a former Advanced Skills Teacher and Geography subject specialist. I’ve worked as a Lead Trainer for Pearson, Kagan (T2T UK), and as an Associate Tutor in Geography at Edge Hill University. I’ve developed PGCE and SKE courses, authored curriculum resources, and examined nationally for GCSE Geography (Edexcel Spec B). My work supports both learners and educators to deepen their understanding of the world and its changing systems.

Beyond the classroom and corporate boardroom, I’m also a qualified Level 3 Yoga Instructor and founder of Pop-Up Yoga UK, sharing the benefits of mindful movement and wellbeing through community classes across the North West.

Caroline Harmon

Caroline has worked in the environmental sector for more than 25 years, working for a number of environmental charities before becoming a Carbon Literacy trainer in 2019. She has delivered Carbon Literacy training to more than 1500 people. In 2020 she created the world’s first online Carbon Literacy course. She has created eight different version of Carbon Literacy including one for Local Authorities (before a Local Authority toolkit existed), one for communities, two for organisations interested in rolling out Carbon Literacy in their own organisation, three for churches and one for DeMontfort University.

Caroline has also created and delivers a Carbon Literacy Train the Trainers course for new and aspiring Carbon Literacy trainers across a number of sectors.

Emma Burlow

Since 2022, Lighthouse have trained more than 1100 learners from 29 different countries and have taken 55 trainers through their approved Train the Trainer course.

Emma is an experienced trainer with more than 25 years’ experience working with businesses at all levels including Boards and senior management teams.

Emma is on a mission to train an army of individuals and trainers who can give us the best chance of minimising our future impact on the planet. She has personally trained a wide range of businesses, including senior management teams from Beko PLC; Boston Scientific; BT Sourced; Kenwood; PZ Cussons; Silent Night and Openreach. She is an ILM certified Master Trainer and has delivered training for the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and the Royal Academy of Engineers.

Lighthouse specialises in supporting businesses to embed Carbon Literacy – from pilot courses to capacity building through in-house Train the Trainer; to course development and full roll out. We have taken 2 clients through to CLO Gold status and several to Silver.

Georgina Patel

Georgina has held senior leadership and management roles in local authorities and the social housing sector. Her experience covers a range of disciplines including Energy, Environmental Health, Housing and Regeneration. She has developed and implemented collaborative strategies and projects with multi-agency partners and residents to address decarbonisation, energy security and energy affordability.

She is also a Non-Executive Director for Honeycomb Group, a Housing Association and Service Provider in Staffordshire.

Georgina has extensive experience delivering Carbon Literacy training to social housing associations, local authorities, and the civil service working across all tiers within the organisation. She also delivers internationally to Corporate Senior Leaders.

She is passionate and enthusiastic about supporting and enabling innovative solutions and positive results.

James Dove

James has been delivering Carbon Literacy training since 2021, becoming a certified trainer in 2022, and was recently invited by the Carbon Literacy Project to apply for Carbon Literacy Consultant status. He has authored multiple accredited Carbon Literacy courses tailored to a wide range of sectors, including music and entertainment, sport, local government, and SMEs.

As a Director of ClimateEQ, James works with businesses of all sizes, from grassroots organisations to global brands, equipping learners with the knowledge and confidence to take effective climate action, while also supporting businesses in achieving Carbon Literate Organisation (CLO) accreditation. His training approach is grounded in best-practice learning and development methods, with a strong emphasis on the learner journey, behavioural change, and real-world application.

James led the development of ClimateEQ’s fully accredited interactive Carbon Literacy e-learning pathway. He combines deep subject knowledge with innovative instructional design, using customised AI avatars, interactive scenarios, and sector-specific case studies to create engaging, high-impact learning experiences.

Whether designing in-person workshops, virtual delivery, or e-learning programmes, James focuses on practical outcomes—helping learners connect their actions with measurable carbon reduction. His courses have certified hundreds of individuals and empowered them to take meaningful action on climate change.”

Malin Cunningham

Malin Cunningham is the founder of Hattrick, an award winning b2b PR & thought leadership consultancy and certified B Corp.  Hattrick is a signatory and strong supporter of The Anti-Greenwash Charter and helps organisations communicate more confidently about their sustainability journey to stand out.  A Swedish national with an MA in Public Relations and a Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses alumni, Malin thrives on helping businesses balance commercial realities with climate conscious operations.

A strong believer in ‘progress over perfection’, she is a frequent speaker, panellist and contributor on how brands can navigate the transition to ‘net zero’ and communicate confidently.  She has developed two ‘first of their kind’ accredited Carbon Literacy courses; one for sales & marketing teams in the built environment and another for roofing installers. Hattrick also delivers dedicated greenwashing training to both marketing and non-marketing teams.

Matt Sawyer

Dr Matt Sawyer is a GP with nearly two decades of experience, committed to improving health outcomes for people, patients, and populations, while also driving better environmental outcomes for the natural world. He writes and delivers Carbon Literacy courses—both in person and online—for healthcare organisations including ICBs, NHS trusts, PCNs, GP practices, and healthcare professionals. He also works with the wider healthcare sector, including medical suppliers and pharmaceutical companies.

Abbie Syvret

Abbie is a sustainability consultant with experience working in professional services and local government in the areas of climate policy development, stakeholder engagement, and corporate sustainability.

She has been delivering Carbon Literacy training for over three years to a wide range of participants, including SMEs, schools, and civil servants. Her focus is on helping people understand the impacts of climate change and empowering them to take practical steps to reduce carbon emissions, both in their workplaces and in their everyday lives.

Abbie is certified in Business Sustainability Management by the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership and is an accredited Carbon Literacy trainer. In 2024, the team she was part of received the CLAD Catalyst Award for their work in advancing Carbon Literacy.

Adam West

Adam West has worked in social housing in Wales for almost 20 years. Initially, he worked in customer-facing roles for seven years before moving into new-build development for another nine years. Most recently, he has been in charge of creating and implementing Coastal Housing Group’s sustainability strategy, upon which work he is basing his doctoral thesis. His passion for environmental sustainability has grown throughout his career as he sees the effects of climate change all around him. At Coastal, Carbon Literacy is a very important part of their sustainability efforts because education has proven to be a most effective tool in stimulating behaviour change. If staff are encouraged to be more environmentally aware at work, they will take those efforts home and a virtuous cycle is created. Therefore, he is really passionate about delivering good Carbon Literacy training because it is the main way they ensure colleagues have the understanding and information they need to make positive changes in their own work.

Adrienne Fusek

Adrienne’s academic and professional background is in adult education, training, and postsecondary international education. As a lecturer of Environmental Science and Sustainability at San Diego State University (SDSU) and a Local Ambassador for the Climate Fresk Association, Adrienne is experienced in creating and delivering a wide range of engaging climate education.

In 2022, Adrienne founded IGC (In Good Company), a San Diego based climate justice nonprofit organization building a critical mass of informed and engaged community members. Under her leadership, IGC delivers accessible climate education designed to drive justice-centered action. In recognition of her local work, the San Diego Regional Climate Collaborative presented Adrienne with the Climate Leader Award in 2024.

As a founding board member of the Climate Action Network for International Educators (CANIE), Adrienne co-founded the Climate Justice Working Group and was the lead author of the CANIE Accord. The CANIE Accord guides decarbonization of the field of international education and has over 100 signatories representing universities, professional associations, and peak bodies around the globe. Adrienne also co-wrote CANIE’s COP26 Glasgow Paper and the Forum on Education Abroad guidelines aligning education abroad with the SDGs.

As an undergraduate at Humboldt State University, Adrienne lived and studied in Querétaro, México. While earning her master’s degree at SIT Graduate Institute, she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Bangladesh. Her doctorate is from San Diego State University.

Alan Peddie

Alan Peddie has worked in the environmental sector for 15 years and counting. He is a training manager at the University of Edinburgh and the founder of his own consultancy, Practical Sustainability Training. He has delivered training to over 10,000 people from a range of organisations, including educational institutions like the University of Edinburgh and corporate clients like Allianz Insurance. Alice Jackson

Alice is a Sustainability Impact Consultant with GreenerFuture Leicestershire and an accredited Carbon Literacy Trainer. She has delivered Carbon Literacy training for three years to over 600 staff, students, local businesses and community organisations. A trained university-level educator and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, Alice combines her academic expertise with practical business engagement to design and deliver impactful SME-focused training. She has contributed to the development of the Carbon Literacy Toolkit for SMEs, certified a University staff and student course based on the Higher Education Toolkit and designed a version of the course for delivery within taught modules at the University of Leicester.

In her consulting role, Alice supports small and medium-sized organisations across Leicestershire to understand their carbon impacts, develop actionable reduction plans and integrate sustainability into their operations. She draws on her experience in education, engagement, and funded project delivery to connect local businesses with University of Leicester expertise, creating opportunities for measurable, long-term impact and engagement.

Anne Snelson

Anne Snelson is the founder of Lead With Sustainability, a training and communications consultancy which helps companies improve their sustainability and so reduce climate change.

She has more than 30 years’ experience working in communications for the transport, telecoms and built environment sectors, working for innovative, market leading brands such as RingGo, Co Charger, Lofty, Vodafone and the Automobile Association.

Anne has presented at national and international conferences and she’s spoken on local and national media, including Radio 4’s Today programme. Her articles have featured in a wide range of titles, including Local Transport Today, Cars of the Future and Circular Magazine.

She is a certified Carbon Literacy Project trainer, has an MBA, Diploma in Marketing, and a BSc Hons in Statistics. In 2023 she passed the Cambridge University Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) Business Management course with a score of 93%.

Anne has trained employees from numerous companies in Carbon Literacy including Nissan, Stagecoach, Landor Links, DAF trucks, Alphabet, Char.gy, Connected Kerb, Cenex, CIHT, CPL One, Dept for Infrastructure, Bicycle Association, PHM, the IPC and the British Parking Association. She has also developed Carbon Literacy Project Training packs.

Anne-Marie Soulsby

As a certified Carbon Literacy Trainer with a strong background in environmental science and conservation, I bring over two years of experience delivering engaging and impactful training. I’ve developed four Carbon Literacy courses and have successfully trained more than 200 people, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to take meaningful climate action.

Chamila Perera

Chamila is a committed change agent in fostering environmentally conscious living through her profession as a senior lecturer at Swinburne School of Business, Law, and Entrepreneurship. She is a dedicated researcher in sustainable consumption practices, having published several research papers in the Australian Deans Council-ranked journals and winning numerous best paper awards for her research projects. Chamila has also been honoured with Swinburne’s Vice Chancellor award and the Australian Deans Council award for her contribution to enhancing carbon literacy among university networks, involving more than 100 participants in her training programs.
Her research interests encompass Consumer Culture, Climate Change-related Behaviour, Sustainability, Environmentalism, Minimalistic Lifestyles, and Corporate Social Responsibility. With teaching experience in various study areas, including Consumer Behaviour, Marketing Research, Marketing Management, Strategic Marketing, Product and Service Innovations, and International Marketing, Chamila continues to impart knowledge and inspire others in the pursuit of sustainable practices.

Chandana Hewege

Associate Professor (Dr) Chandana R. Hewege holds a Ph.D. in Management from Monash University, a Master of Business Administration degree, and a BSc. (Bus Admin) Honors degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. He is currently affiliated with the Swinburne School of Business, Law & Entrepreneurship in Australia. He is a Principal Fellow of the Advance Higher Education Academy (UK). Chandana is a fully accredited Carbon Literacy Trainer by the Carbon Literacy Project and a founding member of the team that pioneered Carbon Literacy Training for academics in Victoria, Australia.

Chandana and his team have won several awards, including:

Chandana’s work has contributed to more than 150 university staff and academics becoming accredited as Carbon Literate, and Swinburne Business School achieving Carbon Literate Educator (CLE) status. His academic and professional experiences are predominantly centered on teaching, research, and industry consultancy. In addition to being a Carbon Literate academic and trainer, Chandana has published widely in reputed academic journals.

Christiane Lorent

Christiane has expertise in multiple sectors in addition to training development and delivery experience. Christiane has in-depth knowledge of the Carbon Literacy standard and practices from her role as Project Advocate at the CLP.

Christiane delivers training to Small and Medium Businesses across sectors and has experience in delivery to local authorities. She has developed training with Higher Education institutions and has supported the Carbon Literacy Project with Toolkit and Course Kit development, including piloting.

Christiane is open to collaborating with trainers and consultants to provide Carbon Literacy training to organisations of all sizes and sectors. Fluent in four languages (French, German, English and Luxembourgish) and having lived in three countries, Christiane is eager to explore opportunities with international partners.

In previous roles, Christiane gained extensive knowledge from managerial and training positions in both the food and fashion retail sectors. Christiane is qualified in Business Sustainability Management as certified by the University of Cambridge’s Institute for Sustainability Leadership. She has knowledge of Fashion Sustainability and Zero Carbon practices, as well as Local Government. Christiane holds a BA (Hons) in French and Business Studies and a Level 3 City & Guilds Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector qualification.

Claire de la Motte

Claire has over four years’ experience delivering Carbon Literacy training within the education sector, primarily supporting staff in Further and Higher Education. Known for her engaging approach and consistently excellent feedback, she has a strong track record of helping organisations achieve successful Carbon Literacy accreditation. Claire offers flexible, tailored training that aligns with your institution’s goals and schedule, ensuring relevance and impact. She also provides introductory taster sessions to build awareness and interest ahead of full training delivery.

Claire Mitchell

Claire is the Member Engagement Lead at EAUC, a Carbon Literate Platinum organisation, and has been delivering Carbon Literacy Training to the Further & Higher Education sector since 2021. She is committed to delivering carbon literacy training and collaborating with individuals and organisations to understand their carbon impacts and motivate them to make change. UK and Irish University and College staff from both operations and academia have undertaken EAUC Carbon Literacy Training, making commitments at both an individual and institutional level.
