Enter our #CLinAction Competition!

August 2024 by Lucia Simmons

To celebrate surpassing 100,000 certified Carbon Literate citizens this summer, we’re excited to be running the #CLinAction competition!

We invite you – the Carbon Literacy community – to show us your Carbon Literacy pledge in action.

Be it in photo or video form, the most creative and inspiring submission will win a bundle of Patagonia goodies!

ONE lucky winner will win:

  • A Patagonia Refugio Pack – a 28L daypack with lots of space to hold your daily essentials, and the durability you expect from sustainable gear made to last.
  • A Patagonia Keep Cup – a reusable mug made of durable tempered glass to enjoy hot drinks on the go.

Whether for outdoor adventures, or just for the back-to-school or work season, it’s up to you how you use them!

How to enter:

1.  Take a photo or film a video of you carrying out your Carbon Literacy pledge.

Pledged to use public or active transport for your commute instead of the car? Take a snapshot of you walking or taking the train to work! Pledged to set up a sustainability working group? Take a group selfie at your next meeting!

If your pledge is difficult to capture, you could take a photo of the place or people your pledge has impacted or will impact and explain how.

Just remember, the more creative the better!

2.  Share your photo or video on LinkedIn or Instagram* alongside your pledge in writing.

Be sure to include the hashtag #CLinAction for your post to be seen and your submission counted.

*For Instagram, this must be a feed post (not a story) for your submission to be counted.

Entry times:

The competition will be open from 16th August and run for one month, closing at midnight on 15th September. Any posts made after the closing date will not be considered.

Why Patagonia?

We’ve chosen to include prizes from world-leading outdoor clothing brand Patagonia for the #CLinAction competition due to its dedication to environmental action and climate justice, illustrated in a number of ways:

  • Made to last: Patagonia creates high-quality, long-lasting products, as well as offering free repairs for life and a program to trade in old items for credit to prevent them going to landfill.
  • Opening Up The Outdoors (OUTO): Patagonia are a founding member of this group that focuses on the continued inclusion, education, and enjoyment of outdoor spaces by people of the global majority.
  • 1% for the Planet: Patagonia created this global movement to allow members to donate 1% of their sales or salary toward environmental causes. The Carbon Literacy Trust is a proud 1% for the Planet Environmental Partner.
  • Patagonia Action Works: Patagonia created this online platform to connect committed individuals with environmental action groups. We are a proud Patagonia Action Works grantee.
  • Made Earth its only shareholder: Patagonia set a new example for environmentally responsible corporate leadership two years ago when they “turned shareholder capitalism on its head”.
