2025 Year in Review

January 2026 by Sara Noor

2025 was a remarkable year for The Carbon Literacy Project.  Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our spectacular team of volunteers, interns, Trustees, and Carbon Literacy trainers, we have had another groundbreaking year, witnessing Carbon Literacy grow and expand at a continually mind-boggling rate.

We certified a massive 33,054 learners in 2025, catapulting us past the 150,000 milestone! This is a 28% increase of the total certified at the end of 2024. To put these numbers into more understandable terms, we certified 2,755 learners per month, or 90.56 learners per day – truly impressive averages!

We also welcomed 335 new Carbon Literacy Facilitators, 39 Carbon Literacy Trainers and five new Carbon Literacy Consultants into the Carbon Literacy trainer community. We accredited 72 Carbon Literate Organisations and engaged a further 4,943 organisations. Moreover, a total of 154 new Carbon Literacy courses were accredited for delivery across 10 new nations.

Fundraising Initiatives

Throughout 2025, we held several exciting fundraisers to raise essential funds to further our work as a charity.

In April, we joined the Big Give’s Green Match Fund, to raise funds for our Carbon Literate Localities initiative, which connects Carbon Literate learners and organisations within their localities to collaborate towards shared climate action goals.

Later in the year, in December we participated in the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge to help keep the Carbon Literacy Schools Toolkit free for as many schools as possible.

These campaigns were instrumental in advancing our charity’s mission, raising approximately £12,900 in total! These funds have been reinvested directly into the Project to ensure the continued expansion and impact of Carbon Literacy worldwide.
