In our increasingly fractured society, one of the most important things we can offer right now is connection and community, not just climate education and action. This Earth Day, you can make this happen by funding the people in your community who are already delivering for your community.
When you donate to our Earth Raise match-fundraising campaign, you’re not sending money somewhere abstract. You’re investing directly in the people and places you know – backing local leaders to create the kind of community-led climate action that actually delivers, has meaning and impact, is people-centric and comes directly from the community it intends to serve.
Through a one-off donation, automatically matched by our campaign funders, you can massively extend your own positive climate impact – catalysing action on a bigger scale than any one of us can achieve alone. Your contribution will not only deliver more informed, inspired and empowered communities, it will also fuel connection, confidence, and agency. It will enable your community to take climate action on its own terms.
Donate to Keep Our Community Leaders Toolkit Free!
At The Carbon Literacy Project, we believe the most powerful climate solutions aren’t delivered top down but are built from within. From within our community centres, our volunteer networks, our neighbourhood groups, and the charities that serve us.
Equipping community leaders with the knowledge and confidence to act is one of the most powerful things we can do right now.
That’s why, as part of the Big Give Earth Raise challenge, we’re raising money to keep our Community Leaders Toolkit free for as long as possible.
Why Community Leaders?
Community Leaders – our faith group leaders, the residents’ association Chair, or the Director of your local charity – play a pivotal role in the fabric of our society and the lives of those they support. This Toolkit puts them in the driving seat of meaningful climate action, and in a way that enables them to create climate-conscious strategies and projects that best serve our most disadvantaged groups and marginalised communities.
The organisations at the heart of our communities need informed and inspired decision-makers armed with the knowledge and skills to align climate action with the needs of local people. This Toolkit is designed to do exactly that. By educating and engaging these leaders on sustainability and climate change, we enable them to drive effective, tangible, and positive change for their communities from within.
What is the Community Leaders Toolkit?
The Toolkit contains everything needed to deliver a day’s worth of Carbon Literacy training for Community Leaders. This includes a slide deck with notes to help facilitators guide participants through the training, a trainer manual acting as a step-by-step guide on running the sessions, examples of best practice, and all the other supporting documentation required to deliver Carbon Literacy.
This peer-developed training package leaves Community Leaders empowered to translate knowledge into impactful strategies for fostering sustainability in their community. Once participants complete their Carbon Literacy course, they pledge to undertake two climate actions – one individual and one group – from here, tangible, meaningful, action is taken by our community leaders, and impact is rippled out from there.
For the charities and community organisations who can access the Toolkit for free, Carbon Literacy also has a very practical value; it helps them become more efficient, reduce waste, align with funding requirements, and reduce their carbon footprint, while also opening new revenue streams and strengthening their case to funders.
Your Donation Doubled for 1 Week Only
From midday on Tuesday 22nd April to midday on Tuesday 29th April 2026, every donation you make will be matched through the Big Give’s Earth Raise campaign, doubling your impact instantly.
As a charity with no central funding ourselves, every pound raised really does make a massive difference in helping us to continue to offer the Community Leaders Toolkit for free for those who couldn’t access it otherwise.
Our goal is to raise £10,000 in total, made up of £5,000 in donations from supporters like you, matched pound-for-pound by our match funders to reach that target. Here’s what that means in practice:
