Carbon Literacy and ISEP

From Carbon Literacy to Carbon Leadership

We’ve partnered with the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP) to develop a range of pathways that help organisations and professionals build carbon knowledge and sustainability skills to deliver meaningful climate action.

A day’s worth of Carbon Literacy training provides every employee, whatever the industry, with the knowledge and motivation to start taking climate action wherever they are. ISEP membership provides professionals delivering this work on a daily basis with resources and opportunities to develop these skills and support others to do the same.

Together with ISEP, we’re committed to embedding sustainability skills across sectors, empowering professionals to not only reduce their own environmental impact but also influence positive change within their organisations, sectors, and communities, accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy.

"ISEP is brilliant for knowledge and avenues you can go down, where Carbon Literacy brings all of that to life. We use Carbon Literacy as a springboard. We roll that out to all our students. Then we offer our ISEP courses for those who want to have knowledge in specific areas or who want to deepen that knowledge."

"I think Carbon Literacy is fantastic. But there is that question of, 'What happens next? What can I do next?'. We look at Carbon Literacy as being that door opener...it's really good for galvanising action and giving people that foundational understanding of climate change. ISEP training gives professionals that are maybe either just starting in the industry or already in the industry kind of the skills that they need to measure, report or manage emissions to recognised standards. It’s the next level up in terms of learning."

"We've had a business that has sent a few members to us to do the Carbon Literacy course and then has sent their specialised sustainability leads to us to carry on and do the level four ISEP course. I think the fun and the joy and the hook that we can get from Carbon Literacy will drive more professionals to go to ISEP.”

“Carbon Literacy is really good at scaling training. With the opportunity to become Carbon Literate as an individual, but also with the opportunity to become a Carbon Literate Organization and now even a Carbon Literate Locality. So if you can combine that with the requirements that organizations need to meet - different frameworks, regulations, pressures from clients, investors, supply chains, in order to get verifiable carbon data. You're just ticking all the boxes. So, if you can combine the two, you've got a very powerful opportunity to spread the speed and scale that you need with the competencies that you need as well."
