The Carbon Literacy (CL) Fund is the core funding distribution initiative established by The Carbon Literacy Trust. Its primary purpose is to break down financial barriers and improve access to vital Carbon Literacy training for those most in need of support.
The Fund serves as the central financial pool that supports various smaller, targeted funding programmes directed toward diverse groups and organisations. By making Carbon Literacy training more accessible, The Fund ensures that underserved sectors and those with fewer financial resources can gain the proven knowledge and tools necessary to enact positive change, cut carbon emissions, and enhance organisational and societal health and prosperity.
Our Carbon Literacy Fund is partially sustained by a portion of every enhanced-rate Carbon Literacy Certificate application fee that private sector audiences pay.
While this provides a vital foundation, we actively welcome additional support from individuals and organisations dedicated to climate action:
If you’d like to support the Fund, please reach out to us at communityfund@carbonliteracy.com.
The Fund has supported groups and organisations across the globe since 2024, providing £43,400 in funding to fuel Carbon Literacy initiatives. Although most projects are still in development, some have already been implemented.

"This funding will support complimentary Carbon Literacy training for economically underserved communities in Kenya, aiming to bridge this knowledge gap. With this support, ZuriPlanet Africa can offer Carbon Literacy training to 190 individuals and cover the costs of course accreditation. This initiative will empower these communities to understand better and address climate challenges, reduce their carbon footprints, and adapt to climate change impacts in one of the world's most vulnerable regions.”

“This funding will allow us to make climate education more accessible and digestible. It will be used by the Black Ecofeminists Network to provide marginalised communities the opportunity to become certified Carbon Literate citizens, which can show future employers that they have taken the step to understand climate change and take climate action in their local communities.”
