At times, dealing with the climate crisis can feel like an impossible problem. It’s so huge that sometimes it feels like we can’t change it. But, if Carbon Literacy® has shown anything at all, it is that from small actions – when we work together – amazing things are possible.
If you have found your way here as a Carbon Literate citizen, you have probably already seen this. But if you want to see the bigger picture, have a look at our latest Impact Report and see what happens when people from all walks of life decide to take ‘climate action where you are’.
However, because of the scale of this work – across sectors, regions and nations – people sometimes forget that we are a charity. We are not centrally funded by government or anyone else. Carbon Literacy is funded by income from the services we provide, by sponsorship or grants from organisations, or by the generous donations of our very many individual supporters… people like you!
Just like with Carbon Literacy training, don’t underestimate the impact you can have. Small donations, when added up and given regularly, make a massive difference. To deliver Carbon Literacy, we have to generate income every step of the way, and we can only go as fast as that income allows. Whatever you can give is a vital contribution to a better future for all.
You can make direct donations to The Carbon Literacy Trust by credit card or bank transfer, as either one-off or regular payments.
If you’re a UK taxpayer, you can also boost your donations by an extra 25p for every £1 you donate by filling in this Gift Aid Declaration form.
Thank you for your generous donations and support for the work we do.

“We’re delighted to support CLP as our values around climate awareness are so closely aligned. Expanding the network of like-minded people willing to ‘walk the talk’ on climate action is a vital part of our mission to reduce emissions and ensure a liveable climate for all species, including ourselves.”
Michelle Marks, Co-Founder of Speak Carbon Collective
“One of the UK’s most influential culture-change programmes around climate action. Their ability to engage organisations, communities and individuals at scale while driving behavioural change made this an inspiring winner."
Judging Panel for the Best Approach to Decarbonisation award at the Northern Housing Awards 2026
“For me in Cox's Bazar, climate change is the sea relentlessly claiming our home...This isn't abstract; it's the saltwater poisoning our farmlands, the cyclones fueled by warmer seas, and the constant fear that the world's longest natural sea beach and the communities that rely on it-may literally be washed away within our lifetimes...But I refuse to let this fear be the end of the story. This #CarbonLiteracy course with Elena Cimelli has given me the tools to transform my anxiety into agency, and my grief into a goal. It has shown me that behind the vast, overwhelming science of carbon, there are human choices—and each one carries weight.”
Amina Noor Mimi, Corporate Sustainability Regional Leader, Stantec
“When I look back at any company I’ve worked for, I see this [Carbon Literacy] as a mission critical alignment initiative, to ensure that the whole team are aligned on the true situation of climate change. Its an essential foundation IMO [in my opinion].”
Mark Stubbs, Senior Programme Manager, EV Hubs, GRIDSERVE
“The Carbon Literacy course was an eye-opening experience that not only helped me understand my own carbon footprint but also drove meaningful changes within our organisation, prompting us to take practical steps such as reducing energy consumption across our offices, improving waste-management practices and being more considerate about disposal and recycling. The training has reshaped my perspective and supported our organisation in making more sustainable, responsible choices- well worth attending.”
Cyrena Lafrante, Policy and Engagement Manager, Institute of Highway Engineers
“Some of the most important training I've ever done... I thought I knew about climate change, carbon reduction, and sustainability, I thought we were doing our bit, and then I went on a Carbon Literacy course. One day out of a busy diary, but boy did it make a massive difference. I was wrong on so many things that I thought I knew about."
Alice Webb, Director of BBC North
"The Carbon Literacy training opened my eyes to the scale of the challenge in front of us and at the same time helped define what I could do in my work and personal life to help deliver net zero. I would recommend this training for everyone with an interest in the future of our planet."
Fergus Murray, Head of Economic Development and Growth, Argyll and Bute Council
"The Carbon Literacy course has stirred passion within me and has added purpose to how I live. I believe if more people were educated on this subject, the more positive changes and community support we will see."
Nikita Star, Student at Manchester Met University
"There is no more time to waste, we need to take action now. There is a crisis happening right now and everyone needs to be informed of how they are contributing to it, and what they must do to stop it."
Laura Murphy, Head of Innovation & New Mobility at RCI FS
"It was probably one of the most insightful, life-changing training days I've ever been on... You can make change that has an impact, and you can influence others and change the way decisions are made."
Michael Cullen, Borough Treasurer at Stockport Council
“Carbon Literacy didn’t just give me knowledge..it gave me courage, clarity, and a way to serve. If more people become Carbon Literate, we don’t just reduce emissions; we unlock human potentials! Thanks The Carbon Literacy Project for this great initiative!”
Nazwa WB Salim, Sustainability & Clean Energy Strategist
“This training gave real perspective. Not fear driven headlines. Practical understanding. How individual actions connect to wider systems. How communities, businesses, and young people can influence change together.”
Kieron Tang, Outdoor Educator, Protect Our Winters
“Yesterday I attended the Cardiff Council run Carbon Literacy training — part of The Carbon Literacy Project and honestly, it was hands down one of the best, most inspiring, and most important courses I’ve ever been on. It's easy to get wrapped up in feeling pretty helpless and like you're swimming against a big ol' tide when it comes to the climate emergency. But yesterday gave me real clarity and focus, not only on what I CAN do, personally and in my role at Cardiff Council - but also how important it is to focus on the good stuff that IS HAPPENING to help reduce emissions and support a more sustainable future.”
Andrew Proctor, Stakeholder Engagement Officer, Cardiff Council
“I believe Carbon Literacy should be mandatory across all industries. It’s a simple but effective training in understanding the human relationship with carbon and climate change. If we are to move towards a more sustainable society, it must be grounded in education and understanding. We cannot exist on headlines and innuendo. Thanks to The Carbon Literacy Project for this initiative.”
Lewis Glynn, Senior Programme Coordinator, Sotheby Institute of Art
“Carbon Literacy should be as foundational as digital literacy in the modern workplace. Understanding the carbon impact of our everyday decisions - both professionally and personally - is key to making sustainability actionable rather than aspirational. What I find powerful about The Carbon Literacy Project is its accessibility. It doesn’t overwhelm with jargon, but it also doesn’t dumb down the science. That balance is what makes it scalable across industries. Embedding this knowledge at every level - from interns to executives - could be one of the most effective cultural shifts we make.”
Charles R, Technical Director, Clever Centre
“I'm not exaggerating when I say that Carbon Literacy training has completely changed my life. It has made me think about the carbon impact of everything I do, from the way I eat, the way I travel through to what I wear and even how I send emails. It's so nice to actually have verified information and training about this topic, as there can be so much misinformation and contradictory statistics online about climate change. The fact that you also receive a qualification at the end too is such a bonus.”
Lydia German, Senior Content and Campaigns Officer, Lancashire Wildlife Trust
"My one day of Carbon Literacy Training has proved, perhaps, the most influential single day of CPD training I've ever undertaken. The day not so much changed my thinking as provided the space and a catalyst to go away and challenge our business delivery model."
Conal Love, Marketing Manager, SustainIQ
